I'm Arian, student at George Washington University. I'm a huge Boston Bruins fan, but I like the Philadelphia Flyers too. I live in Northern VA/DC, so I go to Caps practices and games, and may post about them occasionally. For football, Pats and Ravens are my faves. I love EDM and post a lot about Avicii. I also love Tuukka Rask, unhealthily. Politically, I am a moderate Republican. I make a lot of macros. I don't follow back automatically. Habs and Canucks fans welcome. little raskals

I agree with you on a lot of points, I just wouldn’t be torn up if he left, because if Timmy is our starter next year, we will more than likely lose Tuukka, and that’s not something that we should be willing to do. We need Tuukka, he’s our future.

i just realized i wrote that whole thing without considering my bb tuukks

whether or not timmy takes off/gets traded, tuukkas getting a big contract this summer. he expects starter money and long years, and everyone is prepared to give it to him.

before today, everyone expected the same timmy/tuukka tandem next season. and everyone expected tuukka to still get that big contract. he wont be lost. this doesnt change anything for tuukkas contract- it just changes the fact that he might be the starter for 2012-13 instead of 2013-14.

If Tuukka doesn’t get starter this season, he might leave. There are so many teams that would love him. I don’t think it’s selfish of him to do that because of course he wants to be starter- he’s incredible, young, and in his prime. He doesn’t want to be stuck on the bench during his best years simply because there’s someone better.

We need Tuukka more than we need Thomas. Realistically, Thomas only has one or two seasons left, and Tuukka is our future.

He doesn’t just expect starter money, he expects the starter position. He barely gets to play, and the injury at the end of last season didn’t help his case.

If we have to choose between Timmy and Tuukka this summer, I would be in a serious state of shock if they chose Timmy.

i hate to reblog things twice but

whyyyy would tuukka leave? how CAN he leave? they will resign him this summer to a huge contract. its going to be SO difficult for him to get traded after ONE season on that contract if he “decides to leave” next summer. and that contract will probably have a NTC.

also, if timmys here next season, it has already been decided that tuukkas going to be eased into the starting role NO MATTER WHAT. they’re not going to sit tuukka all the time like before. they want it to be 51/49 in terms of starts. they want to teach tuukka how to be a fulltime starter. wHY WOULD HE LEAVE IF HE KNOWS HES GUARANTEED A STARTING ROLE either this upcoming season or next! he KNOWS hes the goalie of the future and so does the front office and the rest of the team! and timmy!

we also have svedberg…idk how good he is but he’s there

ahhh hes just the 4th string rn. dont factor him into this. if anything, he’ll be competing with hutch for role of dobby’s backup. and next season he’ll probably stay in sweden.

Before I get into it- for the love of God who the hell is still talking about the White House? Why is it still coming up on my timeline? No one but Joe Haggerty cares anymore and we all know how we feel about him. There were no locker room divisions. No one on the team cared about it. End of story.

The media is driving Timmy out of town. He fought for nearly a decade to get into the NHL- playing in Finland and minors until he had a chance here, and didn’t get a chance to start until he was much older than the competition. If he worked so hard, why would he just give it all up one season? He has nearly everything a professional hockey player could want- A Conn Smythe, a Vezina, and a Stanley fucking Cup. The only thing left is an Olympic Gold Medal, and yes, Timmy wants to play in 2014, but he knows there’s a high possibility he won’t start, or even make the team. You’re looking at Jimmy Howard, Jonathan Quick, Ryan Miller, and who knows how many other American goalies will rise to the task by then?

So why is Timmy considering taking a year off? In my opinion, he wants a trade. He does not want to be explicit about it because he knows the media and fans will tear him apart like they did Luongo. The media here has been ragging on him since said White House incident, and he knows it’s so stupid that they made a story out of it, and so he wants to leave. He would rather finish his NHL career somewhere where the team needs him and where the fans and media will appreciate him. How would you feel if you did SO MUCH for a city and then everyone turned on you the second you trusted them enough to share your views with them? The media in Boston is so fucked up.

Some fans say they lost respect for Timmy because he’s being selfish about the cap hit. Oh my God. If he chooses not to play, he is giving up like….a bit less than $3 million. How is that selfish if he chooses not to get paid? The salary cap has nothing to do with him. If you are a hockey player, your priority is not, “Geez, GM. I don’t know if I want to score a goal tonight because I’m really hurting our team’s salary cap.” Your job is to play hockey. That is why you hire agents to discuss contracts for you. He is not being selfish.

So that’s my two cents on the matter. The media and bloggers should be ashamed of themselves. Fans needs to show a little more respect to this man that has brought the Bruins out of irrelevancy. And if Timmy comes out and says that he does not want to play next year because of a serious family issue, then fuck you guys for being such dicks to him.
